The beginning and ending were quite good, but the predictable and formulaic central section does hold the movie back somewhat; that said, I did find myself enjoying it. *Christmas Everlasting* manages to have a decent amount of warmth, and I found myself invested in the main character, Lucy, played by Tatyana Ali. It’s a solid story, different from many other holiday television movies. However, as mentioned, it does follow the standard patterns of those kinds of productions during its middle section—which feels slow and uneventful. Ali, along with Dondré T. Whitfield & Dennis Haysbert and several others, are nice to watch, which prevents the film from dropping too far in quality. The group of characters led by Amanda Brooks have writing that seems odd, though. Overall, it’s worth seeing.
