I wasn’t familiar with the original television program that served as inspiration for this film. Initially, I wondered if it might be a reimagining of 'Electra Glide in Blue'. Regardless, Dax Shepard both directed and appeared in a significant role. While his directorial efforts have always been commendable, Michael Pena truly carried the rest of the cast. He’s taken on comparable roles previously, such as in ‘End of Watch’, but here he really stood out, overshadowing even Shepard himself. The movie follows two motorcycle patrol officers who are paired together, despite being somewhat ill-suited for their assignments – a decision made by their commanding officer. One is a former motorcycle stunt performer, and the other recently lost his partner. They start looking into a highway robbery, which points them toward the perpetrators. The question then becomes whether they can confront these criminals, who seem to hold an advantage over them, leading to some unexpected turns before culminating in a large action set piece. It's visually appealing and well-produced, but ultimately let down by its script. There was a clear intention behind the narrative, yet the film’s scenes felt disjointed. Numerous superfluous moments were included, seemingly just for comedic effect. Some of these jokes landed well, but the movie became weighed down by them alongside some random action sequences. The acting was solid, although the two leads really stood out as highlights. If you're willing to overlook plot inconsistencies, it can be enjoyable and provides a reasonable level of entertainment. However, its quality doesn’t warrant a high score. _6/10_
