I tend to root for horror remakes; I realize the online horror crowd is quick to dismiss them, but I generally try to approach them with optimism and frequently find something worthwhile. In fact, John Carpenter’s initial _Halloween_ isn't even among my top choices in the series. To be fair, I'm a big fan of both Audrey Plaza and Mark Hamill. However, this 2019 version of _Child's Play_ falls short compared to the original film on nearly every level; it could very well be the weakest entry in the entire collection. _Final rating:★★ - It had elements I liked, but ultimately didn’t work out so well._
