The film "Chevalier," written by Stefani Robinson, follows a familiar biopic format that feels somewhat predictable, but director Stephen Williams brings a measured and unexpectedly engaging perspective to the story of composer Joseph Bologne. It's an emotionally resonant and deeply moving account accompanied by striking classical music, leading to a strong final scene. The acting is excellent; Kelvin Harrison Jr. gives what may be his finest performance so far this year. The costume design and makeup are also noteworthy and likely to receive recognition during awards season.
