The musical elements are strong and memorable, though the movie itself falls short of their quality. 'Charro!' is a 1969 western featuring Elvis Presley in the central role. The basic idea behind the story holds potential, however, how it’s presented isn't particularly engaging. While the final scenes offer some enjoyment, the preceding hour and fifteen minutes feel drawn out; the narrative would have benefited from more development. Presley delivers an adequate performance, which I thought was acceptable. Victor French is serviceable as the antagonist, but neither he nor Presley or any of the other performers left a lasting impression on me—even soon after seeing the film. It’s not terrible, but it's also nothing special.
