This film centers on a character who embodies traits like narcissism, racism, and egocentrism—a person unfamiliar with love who manipulates two young men captivated by her into being pieces of a cruel scheme. The destruction she causes and the lives she ruins hold no weight for her as she relentlessly pursues power, control, and recognition. While I don’t inherently object to narratives built around antagonists or films featuring villainous female characters, something about the presentation in this one left me feeling ill and drained. It could be due to shortcomings in the writing, the absence of a genuine hero—since those presented as such appear more like willing sacrifices, making it difficult to connect with them emotionally—or possibly the script’s disjointed construction. The truly awful musical score doesn't improve matters either. Furthermore, the scenes intended to depict "tennis" are so removed from reality that they often elicit laughter when the film aims for a serious tone. It’s genuinely disappointing. I will say that the three lead performers deliver commendable performances and I would be happy to see them in other projects. Particularly memorable is the antagonist (if she can manage expressions beyond a constant frown) and the dark-haired protagonist.
