Challengers rises above what might be expected from a movie about tennis to explore intricate aspects of how people connect and what they truly want. Luca Guadagnino’s careful direction and use of symbolism, along with the outstanding and passionate acting by Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist, draws audiences into an environment where feelings of affection and rivalry become intertwined in a compelling way, full of sexual energy and an exciting musical backdrop.
