The film had real potential, but its reliance on a few unbelievable instances of bad luck really held it back. Chris Evans gets a bizarre phone call from a woman—Kim Basinger—who’s been taken hostage and needs his help to protect her son and husband while the villains—including Jason Statham—are after them for reasons that aren't immediately clear. After attempting to go to the police, he finds himself unable to speak with a detective due to a disturbance and is forced to handle everything on his own. There’s action throughout, and Evans seems to enjoy driving a Porsche (borrowed from Rick Hoffmann, who always appears to be playing an arrogant character!), before they are pursued by numerous cops of varying sizes—and questionable allegiances. Evans delivers a decent performance, and William H. Macy isn't shy about indulging his ego; however, it feels like a missed chance for everyone involved.
