This film didn’t work out well, even with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson in the cast. *Cell* felt like a version of *Land of the Dead*, but without the interesting zombies—that was my constant thought while watching this 2016 movie. The George A. Romero film is enjoyable; this Tod Williams production isn’t. It's flawed from beginning to end and doesn't manage to create any suspense, originality or a distinctive feel. Cusack and Jackson seem like they should have had good chemistry together, but I barely remember anything about their acting just after seeing the movie. They are both capable of delivering much better work, particularly Jackson. No other performances stood out either, although it was nice to see *Prison Break* actor Stacy Keach appear in a role. I suggest skipping this one.
