It’s not a good film, but surprisingly it manages to be more enjoyable than you might expect considering its shortcomings... and it certainly does a better job than *'Casper: A Spirited Beginning,'* which deserves recognition for that alone. *'Casper Meets Wendy'* seems to borrow elements from the 1993 movie *'Hocus Pocus,'* and that’s actually a good thing; the sections of the story involving the three witches and Wendy (played by Hilary Duff, in her first film role!) are almost genuinely good. On the downside, Casper feels underdeveloped or used inappropriately, at least from my perspective, and the parts of the plot featuring George Hamilton and his associates are frankly awful. Jeremy Foley continues to do a fine job voicing Casper, having been involved since the second movie, while Cathy Moriarty—who played Carrigan in the first film—is back in a different role. As far as I can tell, Ben Stein is the only person who appears in all three initial releases. Next up: *'Casper’s Haunted Christmas.'* Thrilling, I suppose...
