The year 2006 marked a turning point where the producers—apparently without the guidance of Cubby Broccoli, who had passed away—abandoned the traditional approach to James Bond movies. A shorter, fair-haired actor was chosen for the role of 007. The familiar gun barrel sequence was altered, and the series’ previously energetic, extravagant, and entertaining feel became dull. It seems unlikely there will be more Bond films unless they return to making genuine Bond stories instead of this uninspired and unremarkable material. It's regrettable that Broccoli wasn’t still present to maintain control over Eon Productions and prevent them from damaging four decades of effort.
