Carter attempts to emulate a continuous-action film, but it doesn’t quite reach the level of Korea’s Hardcore Henry. The filmmakers don't really try to conceal the numerous cuts that are clearly visible. A constantly moving, shaky camera is in use, along with very skilled stunt performers and a significant amount of computer-generated imagery. The storyline is an improbable combination of elements too bizarre for even low-budget video games to employ; however, this does make it somewhat unpredictable. It incorporates three clandestine organizations, a political takeover, implanted technology, speedy zombies, a rescue mission involving a daughter, echoes of Total Recall, Indiana Jones, and Blood Red Sky, plus touches reminiscent of Extraction and James Bond. I'm fine with the bullet-resistant pigs, and we’re all aware of the unlimited ammunition—but the zombie creatures resembling fleas, the freefall fight sequence, and the computer-generated fires are unintentionally funny, or simply poor quality, depending on what you anticipate. You will need to suspend your disbelief considerably in order to enjoy it. A caution for sensitive viewers: Beyond the considerable bloodshed, there’s also a short instance of full nudity, as we're aware that depictions of Asian anatomy can be startling.
