The film’s release was accompanied by an enormous amount of promotion and sales, becoming both popular with audiences and successful in terms of reviews and merchandise. I had already grown up when it came out, and I didn't feel like I belonged to the intended audience, so I actively avoided it and any follow-ups until now, mainly because I was tired of seeing and hearing about it everywhere—it seemed to be on everything that could possibly be sold. What stands out most is the remarkable visual style and animation; they’re so realistic they almost feel genuine. The filmmakers clearly spared no expense, with a substantial investment in cutting-edge technology! The racing sequences on the track are especially impressive because they effectively communicate the speed and excitement to viewers. The colors and landscapes are also wonderful, and while the music isn't particularly memorable or distinctive, it complements the film well. Several well-known actors provided voice work for the characters; Owen Wilson delivers a perfect performance, and Paul Newman and Tony Shalhoub do excellent jobs as well. My reservations lie with the storyline. It has some decent parts, and it’s engaging enough to avoid feeling overly simplistic or dull. However, the plot is quite predictable: a young man who's proud and driven must learn humility and kindness in order to appreciate others, find love, and achieve his goals. This familiar trope appears in many films attempting to impart a moral lesson, each with its own variations. Is this a significant issue? I believe it does hold the film back somewhat, but it’s not enough reason to skip seeing it entirely.
