It makes for an enjoyable viewing experience. *Cars* is a strong entry from Disney, not among their absolute best but very near the top tier. The voice acting delivers impressive results, and the animation quality is exceptional. I appreciated how they built up the racing sequences and established the stakes, even though it avoids being strictly realistic – which works well. Owen Wilson shines as Lightning McQueen, while Bonnie Hunt and Larry the Cable Guy are memorable in their roles as Sally and Mater. The supporting cast members also do a good job, including Michael Keaton (as Chick Hicks). John Ratzenberger appears again, with a humorous addition during the closing credits. The music is well-chosen, the humor lands effectively, and it manages to have genuine emotional depth. I’d suggest checking it out.
