This installment builds effectively on the first movie, proving to be far superior to Cars 2. The filmmakers made a smart choice by centering the story around Lightnin' McQueen again and limiting Mater’s role considerably. It might not be profoundly impactful, but it remains an enjoyable animated film. Even when Pixar seems to be taking things easy, they still produce visually appealing movies, though perhaps lacking depth. I do have one question—in a setting populated by cars that act like people, with no humans in sight, why are there door handles?
