Peter Cushing delivers an outstanding performance portraying "Dr. Blyss," a man of intellect and charm who appears to be a vicar during the day but secretly leads a group of smugglers at night, set in a period mystery. Patrick Allen, as "Captain Collier," arrives with soldiers to look into this illicit activity, initiating a diverting pursuit where he attempts to unmask the smuggling ring’s head and also disprove the legend surrounding “Captain Clegg,” supposedly a pirate executed at Tyburn some time before. The film benefits from a strong ensemble cast including Michael Ripper, Oliver Reed, Martin Benson, Derek Francis in the role of an inept local landowner, and Yvonne Romain as a female servant; it offers vibrant visuals, humor, and adventure, making it a worthwhile viewing experience.
