This film comes remarkably close to being flawless, and it’s likely to evoke strong emotions and some unexpected physical reactions in viewers. The slow pace of life in this small town feels authentic, as does the budding relationship between the main characters. I struggled to identify any significant flaws until the final quarter hour, which felt rushed and more like a gradual fading away than a powerful conclusion. I also thought there could have been a touch more exploration of sexual themes; it seems strangely absent. Nevertheless, it’s worthwhile viewing.
