I watched this movie because someone suggested it, and honestly, it was a complete letdown. It’s fortunate I didn’t have to pay for it, since I saw it on television. The promotional image did look interesting, but the actual movie wasn't good at all. "Cage Dive" seems like an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of “Open Water.” This film has absolutely nothing in common with Chris Kentis’s work; it's more akin to something like "47 Meters Down." The story revolves around a small collection of characters who are hard to connect with and seem completely unrealistic, as they plan to create an audition video for some kind of extreme survival show. They travel from Los Angeles to Australia specifically for shark diving. Are you following? It goes downhill quickly after that point. As expected, the boat turns over, and everyone ends up in the water. Several people die, either because of the accident or shark attacks. One person in the group locates a flare and unintentionally kills someone who’s on a raft—all due to their own selfish behavior. That incident with the flare just added to the absurdity. I won't spoil how it concludes, but suffice it to say, the film couldn't possibly get any sillier.
