I'm struggling to grasp the purpose of this film. The acting felt excessively hushed—I could barely follow Dave Bautista’s delivery—and the ending seemed completely pointless, leaving me wondering who the intended audience was and what the filmmakers were trying to achieve. It came across as if I were witnessing a fantasy action story created by a middle schooler obsessed with first-person shooters or perhaps two adults playing D&D where their choices are dictated by dice rolls. Given when it was released, depicting a violent uprising of southern libertarians randomly killing working-class people from diverse backgrounds feels like an odd decision. It’s a social construct that, similar to the antagonists within the story, demonstrates a lack of imagination and seems designed only to satisfy simplistic desires for revolutionary narratives among those who haven't truly grasped or experienced the value of collective resistance until after a tragedy has already occurred. The few redeeming qualities of _Bushwick_ were Brittany Snow’s performance and some of the cinematography choices, even though the camera work felt clumsy at times and the repeated shots up staircases quickly became tiresome.
