It’s an important narrative – the shameful and prejudiced actions against skilled military personnel due to their sexual orientation, something that happens in the US and beyond. However, the presentation of this story is simply lackluster. The film follows two Navy pilots who delay any meaningful development for a frustratingly long time, resulting in a slow and detached experience. Even toward the conclusion, with an NCIS investigation that would be rejected by characters like "Gibbs" or "Abby," it fails to generate excitement—in any way. While it doesn't have to focus on sexual encounters, there needs to be something for the actors to work with; what’s provided is inadequate. It lacks the ability to convey the danger, doubt, and even embarrassment these men experience regarding their identities, jobs, and families. Instead, it relies on uninspired music and weak writing that perpetuates stereotypes on all sides, which ultimately undermines its message. This was a story deserving of attention, but not in such a lifeless and unsuccessful manner.
