The narrative structure—beginning with an immediate sequence and then jumping back to the beginning—is something I'm not keen on in films. I feel it occasionally functions acceptably for TV shows or mystery stories, but even those instances are often unsuccessful. In most movies, it comes across as either a lack of confidence that the film could maintain viewer engagement until later action sequences, or an inability to devise a suitable opening. It might be both of those things actually. The attempt to portray Josh Hutcherson as a tough character is pretty ridiculous and the story feels significantly underdeveloped. Still, I can’t recall another movie quite like it, so that earns some credit. _Final rating:★★½ - There were elements I liked, but ultimately it didn't fully succeed._
