This movie is a wild comedy centered around a teenager living in a bubble due to his lack of immunity. When the girl he cares for plans to marry someone else at Niagara Falls, he decides to interrupt the wedding while wearing a protective suit that looks like a giant plastic sphere. Along his journey, he meets all sorts of eccentric people. “Bubble Boy,” released in 2001, doesn't take itself seriously—unlike John Travolta’s film from a quarter-century before, which was based on actual events. Instead, it aims for laughs, drawing inspiration from a Seinfeld episode and the chaotic road trip style of “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.” The main character shares qualities with Brendan Fraser's role in "Blast from the Past" and Jim Carrey's Ace Ventura. The humor is consistently funny because it pushes jokes to their extreme. A scene involving livestock on the road perfectly illustrates this. It satirizes various groups of people, but avoids being truly offensive by treating everyone fairly. These include strict religious followers, young rebels, motorcycle riders, performers in a sideshow, fans of pop culture, Hindus and Asians. You'll be surprised to discover the leader of the cult group. Marley Shelton, with her appealing blonde hair, is one of the best things about the female cast, as is Ever Carradine playing her fiancé’s sister, plus Stacy Keibler in a brief appearance as a mud wrestling competitor. The film has a runtime of one hour and twenty-four minutes and was filmed in locations around Los Angeles, such as Palmdale, Santa Clarita, Piru, Santa Paula and La Verne, along with Las Vegas and Niagara Falls.
