Bruce Almighty really makes good use of Jim Carrey’s comedic talents and benefits from a strong supporting ensemble, resulting in an excellent, enjoyable comedy. I had a pretty bad experience seeing The Mask when I was very young, which made me scared of Jim Carrey for some time. Even after I got over that fear, I wasn't really a fan, but Bruce Almighty completely altered my perspective. The first time I watched it, I didn’t want to, but I’m truly happy I was made to see it because it’s genuinely wonderful! It playfully explores Christian beliefs and ideas without being disrespectful or mean-spirited; it's simply a funny movie that shows Carrey’s Bruce Nolan evolving from someone who is nice but focused on himself into a person who is thoughtful, considerate of others, and grateful for what he has, particularly his girlfriend portrayed by Jennifer Aniston. Bruce Almighty also features a younger Steve Carell in a significant role as Carrey's competitor, who gets caught up in the consequences of Carrey’s divine abilities in a very funny way. This film is easily my favorite Jim Carrey movie and one of my all-time favorite comedies.
