A young Inuit warrior named "Kenai" incurs spiritual wrath when he kills a bear, resulting in his transformation into one and banishment to the wilderness. He then meets "Koda," a cub who believes he knows how to reverse Kenai's condition. Adding complication is Kenai’s brother, “Denahi,” who assumes Kenai has been killed by a bear and sets out to hunt him down. As they travel together, the two bears form a connection while experiencing various adventures, encountering amusing moose characters, and "Kenai" discovers lessons about friendship, loyalty, and belonging – along with some fishing techniques! The animation is well-done, accompanied by a soundtrack featuring Phil Collins and Tina Turner, and the film possesses an appealing spiritual quality. “Koda” brought to mind a character similar to “Mowgli,” being charming and energetic without becoming irritating. I appreciated the ending as well; it had a sense of happiness that highlighted the ideal relationship between humans and the natural world. The animation is full of personality, and there are some interesting cave paintings too! It's certainly worth seeing.
