To be upfront, I’m not part of the LGBTQ+ community and didn’t see this film. My lack of interest wasn’t due to my sexual orientation or a dislike for romantic comedies in general; those films simply aren't something I find appealing, regardless of who is involved. The real reason I avoided it was because I anticipated a lecture, and that’s exactly what happened. We were once again presented with the message that straight white men are inherently bad simply because of their identity—their race, gender, or sexual orientation. A suggestion for Hollywood: if you're aiming to create movies audiences will willingly pay for, avoid those that immediately signal a constant barrage of criticism about how awful viewers are. It’s not a good look to then insult the audience who didn’t watch it. At this point, anything labeled as "Gay" feels like something to steer clear of, not because people who identify as straight or white are evil, but because there's a high probability that it will be offensive and those responsible will follow up by insulting the viewers.
