The film relies heavily on noticeably low-budget computer-generated imagery throughout its portrayal of a fascinating real-life WWI naval intelligence operation. The ship at the center of the story, presented as a converted hospital vessel and one of the sister ships to the RMS "Titanic," met its end in 1916 near a Greek island. This movie explores what could have unfolded aboard prior to that disaster. With concerns about potential trouble arising, a new agent named "Vera Campbell" (played by Amanda Ryan) is assigned to the ship. The Captain (John Rhys-Davies) initially doubts both her abilities and the warnings regarding the ship’s safety—until events begin to unfold. She turns out to be an effective operative, but will she uncover the person responsible for planning the ship's destruction? It becomes clear early on who that individual is, which diminishes any real suspense since the outcome is already known from historical records. Consequently, what we have is a fairly unremarkable drama with romantic elements, set on the ocean and possessing potential for adventure, though ultimately lacking in excitement. Jacqueline Bissett makes occasional appearances, contributing little beyond her presence; it’s clear this was made for television. While the concept itself is intriguing, a stronger cast and more skilled direction could have made this a worthwhile narrative. As it stands, this feels entirely disposable.
