Bridget Jones’s Diary is adequately entertaining and maintains a brisk pace for roughly 90 minutes. Renée Zellweger gives a convincing performance as a British woman, which isn’t something you often see from an American performer. She's very good in the film, especially when it comes to the comedic elements. I didn't really pick up on any real connection between her character and the man she ends up with; Zellweger seemed to have better rapport with another male character actually. Hugh Grant and Colin Firth are present as expected, and they both do a solid job. It’s about time I got around to seeing this one, considering it's from my own country. It’s been familiar to me for years; it’s clearly a well-known film. Before watching, I only knew the main actors and, um, the protagonist’s preferred lingerie... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I also knew Gabrielle’s song "Out of Reach" was from this movie. What I didn't realize was that Geri Halliwell’s “It’s Raining Men” also became more popular because of it. Go figure.
