The movie initially feels fairly ordinary, but truthfully, I was surprised by what happened in the latter portion – and pleasantly so. I think *Bridge to Terabithia* comes close to being exceptional, though it doesn’t quite reach that level; however, it left me feeling more emotionally affected than I anticipated when I was halfway through because the second half is really strong. Josh Hutcherson as Jess and AnnaSophia Robb as Leslie work well together, and their friendship felt believable from the start – Hutcherson's acting improves noticeably throughout the film’s duration. Robert Patrick (Jack) and Zooey Deschanel (Ms. Edmunds) also made an impression, but it really centers on Hutcherson and Robb. It’s a charming movie with a rather imaginative concept. I enjoyed watching it.
