The concept behind "Breaking Surface" initially caught my attention, and the beginning seemed quite good. However, as the movie progressed, I noticed something was missing. It reminded me of the original "47 Meters Down," without the shark threat, and focuses more on potential diving mishaps. Despite this, I didn't feel very connected to what was happening onscreen, which is a shame. At some point, it seemed like the film lost my interest and couldn’t keep me engaged for the remainder of its runtime. So, while I appreciate the basic idea, I wouldn't necessarily suggest it to viewers looking for a movie about divers facing peril—unless they’ve already exhausted every other option. Considering this is a Swedish/Norwegian production, it probably won't draw a massive international audience, and most of the actors (including Moa Gammel and Madeleine Martin) aren’t widely known outside of Scandinavia. The only person I recognized was Trine Wiggen, who appeared in "Cold Prey III" and more recently in "Cadaver." Despite having some decent scenes, this film ultimately has too few to leave a lasting impression.
