I can't believe I waited so long to see this film; I just watched it for the very first time not too long ago. It's generally enjoyable. Audrey Hepburn is captivating on screen, and Patricia Neal gives a performance that’s equally impressive. I felt like George Peppard might have brought more life or feeling to his part. The supporting actors are all good, particularly the cat. The storyline appears quite bold for its era, although they handle sensitive subjects with caution. Mickey Rooney's portrayal of a Japanese character struck me as being in poor taste, and apparently director Blake Edwards later regretted that casting choice. It wasn’t Rooney’s fault; he was given an unrewarding part, and it comes across as prejudiced when viewed through today's standards. I didn’t find the narrative completely thrilling, but I thought the ending scene involving the cat made up for some of the shortcomings I observed.
