I found Brave to be a pleasant film, though it did have some shortcomings. Initially, I didn’t get the sense that there was much substance to the narrative. While I appreciated its entertainment value and positive messages about family, I never really felt connected to the central characters. Events simply unfolded without a strong emotional pull. Also, and this is not entirely the film's responsibility—it may be more of an issue with how it was promoted—I realized that Brave turned out to be quite different from what I anticipated. It proved difficult to set aside those initial expectations, as I frequently found myself assuming the plot would take a different direction. Brave truly shone during its humorous moments, which regrettably occurred infrequently. For instance, the scene involving the clans competing for Mérida's hand felt far too brief! The voice acting was quite strong, and Kelly Macdonald stood out as particularly well-suited to the role of Mérida. Overall, Brave was a good movie but not exceptional. It seemed to miss the special quality I look for in Pixar films. Certainly not their weakest effort, though it came close.
