I think we're only at the beginning of a sexual revolution; comparing films from the 2000s, the 2020s, and likely the 2040s would show people becoming increasingly aware of shifts in the global understanding of sexuality, and more importantly, that it won’t be a taboo topic going forward. Kimberly Pierce depicted Teena Brandon as someone born female but living as male.
