Joel Edgerton, who also penned the screenplay and appears in a role, delivers Boy Erased, another eagerly awaited project from a performer transitioning into directing. The movie centers on Jared (Lucas Hedges), a young man recently revealed to be gay, as he’s compelled to join his church’s initiative aimed at changing sexual orientation. Adapted from Garrard Conley's well-regarded memoir, Boy Erased includes a notable ensemble cast alongside Hedges and Edgerton; this group also contains Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe, both previous recipients of Academy Awards.
