I don’t usually go for comedies, but I did watch the initial Borat film and thought it was a collection of prank bits with some genuinely amusing moments. Sacha Baron Cohen's newer installment builds on what came before by incorporating more narrative elements while still challenging prejudices in America—things like racism and sexism—all during a pandemic. The release couldn’t have been better timed given the current political climate. Maria Bakalova, who portrays Borat’s 15-year-old daughter (she's really 24), is the film’s strongest asset; she completely takes over with her innocence and charm. Whether or not you find this movie entertaining will likely hinge on your personal political views and how comfortable you are with extremely rude and vulgar humor. I thought it was laugh-out-loud funny, but it's certainly not for all audiences.
