Following a devastating car crash that impacted her own family, two devoted admirers of Marc Bolan, "Penny" (Leanne Best) and "Steffan" (Dylan Dwyfor), journey to the location where Bolan died. They’re going to attend a subdued memorial marking the 75th anniversary of his passing, alongside other dedicated fans. The site is cared for by an unusual man named "Jimmy" (Timothy Spall)—someone who could easily have been in Slade—and he has a peculiar reaction when he sees "Penny." It becomes clear that these individuals share unexpected connections, and as the narrative progresses, we begin to understand more about their personal traumas and how those experiences shaped their relationships. Beyond the fact that they all went to a T-Rex concert once, got to meet the band, and one of them obtained a pair of Bolan’s stylish shoes, this film doesn't really have much connection to the iconic musician. It’s essentially a story about a family grappling with tragedy, mental health challenges, and avoidance—and while it isn't poorly made, it also lacks originality and excitement. The conclusion is somewhat poignant, and it would likely be suitable as a pleasant diversion on television during the Christmas season, particularly showcasing Spall’s talents.
