You don’t have to have experience in the food service industry to recognize the stress, the pressure, the egos involved, the errors made, the established order, and that feeling that one small slip-up can affect everyone. The continuous shot isn't just an empty trick. It works perfectly here because it immerses you within the restaurant, forcing you to experience the night without a way out, almost like you’re part of the team. There’s no break, no edit to ease the tension, and that creates a very effective feeling of suffocation. Stephen Graham is phenomenal. He holds the film together with a combination of weariness, anger, anxiety, and vulnerability that feels truly believable. It's also clear this functions as an ensemble effort: kitchen staff, servers, customers, superiors, personal issues… all contribute to making the chaos feel like it has its own existence. What’s best is that it doesn’t come across as a film “about chefs” in any idealized or glamorous way. It isn't about beautiful dishes or romantic culinary experiences; instead, it focuses on exhaustion, constant pressure, and how one difficult night can become an awful downward progression. That’s where it feels most genuine and impactful. The level of tension is also very well managed. It begins intensely, gradually accumulating problems, conflicts, and mistakes, slowly leaving you with the sense that something will eventually shatter. Even if some elements feel a bit obvious in anticipation of the ending, the overall truthfulness outweighs those minor points. In conclusion, I think it's an excellent film—very tense and skillfully constructed. The continuous shot is striking, certainly, but what’s most impressive isn’t the technical aspect: it’s how effectively it makes you feel like you lived through that night inside the restaurant.
