This isn’t really a biography or biopic about Freddie Mercury or Queen; it focuses on certain important moments in their history, from when they first came together until their show at Live Aid. Being a fan of Queen, I was completely absorbed and delighted by this film. The performances are excellent, bringing the band members to life, and the music provides an energetic pulse that drives the narrative forward. Hardcore Queen fans might be bothered by the way the musical sequences are presented out of order and how narrowly focused the storytelling is, but if you can overlook those aspects, it's a really powerful film with a thrilling final scene as the Live Aid performance is recreated so well.
