The film's production itself is commendable. The direction felt average, though the performers in the cast are excellent and give strong performances. Still, the narrative ultimately feels disappointing. Amenábar establishes a mood that suggests something far more substantial than what actually occurs. Ultimately, it’s simply a straightforward, realistic story which progresses acceptably but leads to tedium for those watching. It works well from a philosophical or logical standpoint, but falls short in terms of entertainment value.
