This film brings to mind Richard Linklater’s style, but doesn’t quite reach the same level of quality, even though there are some genuinely enjoyable, seemingly improvised moments. It brought back a memory for me: When I was around twenty years old and traveling through the United States, I found myself in Ohio, sleeping on the floor of a college apartment with students from Oberlin. During a conversation fueled by smoke and deep thinking, I received what felt like an important life lesson. A guy—I can’t even recall his name now—explained that he was putting a lot of work into letting go of past connections. He said it mattered. It struck me profoundly, and it's something I’ve always remembered. What he was doing wasn’t just significant; it felt vital. Lingering ties drain our energy and keep us from fully experiencing the present—from being truly in the moment.
