The film assembled an interesting group of performers, including Mr. Blond, Gandhi, Ron Camp, David Herdeg, The Phantom, and Bob—who’s portrayed by someone resembling Meatloaf from Fight Club. It seemed like it had potential to be enjoyable, but the pacing is far too quick. The narrative depends on exposition delivered by Madsen to explain events as it rushes into action sequences that become confusing without that context. The filmmakers should have taken more time so viewers could understand the setting and what was at risk, along with who the important people were. Blood Rayne isn't quite like Mortal Kombat; the intellectual property has a smaller following, and the storyline is somewhat more complex. However, it just barrels forward without establishing anything substantial.
