You wouldn't guess this was the work of a first-time filmmaker. It shares similarities with movies like 'Groundhog Day', 'Edge of Tomorrow', and even 'The Deaths of Ian Stone,' but what sets it apart is noteworthy. Being a low-budget production actually worked to its advantage; there’s no sense that corners were cut in quality. In fact, expensive special effects weren't necessary at all. The filmmakers managed everything exceptionally well, given the film featured a very small cast and primarily takes place in a single isolated location and its surroundings. It’s truly a hidden gem. If you’ve ever considered watching a B movie but held back for various reasons, this is one to choose, particularly if thrillers are your preference. The narrative incorporates a time loop element. The story begins at a drug rehab center where Milton is approached by Skyler and asked to cook crystal meth. That night, they escape with her boyfriend Russell into the woods to carry out their plan. However, the following morning, Milton notices a significant change in Skyler, something he doesn’t fully grasp until the next day. This is the pivotal moment for viewers to pay close attention to. The same 24-hour period begins repeating itself, offering what seems like another chance each time, without explanation. As they attempt to understand what's happening, a connection develops between them. When they believe they’ve found a way out, a new problem arises; the solution requires either a sacrifice or betrayal. The film explores who makes that choice and whether there is an alternative path. > "Not a single enemy left. Not a single friend either." The concept needed to be handled with considerable intelligence because viewers are likely to pick up on inconsistencies. Several times, I wondered how such an oversight could have been missed, but the filmmakers consistently proved me wrong. The writing was superb; it’s surprising that the writers usually work on children's films, as this is a remarkable achievement. They deserve the opportunity to tackle larger projects with complete creative freedom. I am eagerly anticipating their next film or perhaps even a sequel to this one. Don’t let the trailer, poster, or negative reviews deter you. It isn't a lavish production from a major studio, but within its limitations, it delivers what is expected. The actors are also quite good; I initially thought the lead actress was Daniella Monet, then realized she wasn’t. She’s the same performer who appeared in *Lord of the Rings* as the woman fleeing her village after an Orc attack, and has clearly matured into a talented actress. It could easily be classified as a sci-fi thriller, but given the story's progression and direction, it more appropriately belongs to the fantasy-thriller genre. Regardless, don’t go in expecting a horror film if that’s your thing, because it doesn’t quite fit that category. It is an entertaining film with sustained suspense thanks to its well-paced storytelling. It stands out among B movies and time loop films I've seen, and I recommend it, but to those who appreciate this kind of story. _7.5/10_
