I had high hopes for '**Blonde**' when it came out mid-year, but I have to say, I’m let down. The film feels adrift; it’s essentially an imagined account of **Marilyn Monroe’s** life that lacks any real grounding. It’s simple to feel disoriented as the scenes progress and with so many characters (_to the point where someone unfamiliar with her story would struggle to identify them_) in a nearly three-hour movie. The direction is decent, even inventive at times, although it incorporates elements seemingly at random. And there's this constant shift between color and black and white that doesn’t appear to serve any clear purpose. **Ana de Armas’s** performance stands out as exceptional—easily the highlight of the film—even though her character isn't well-developed. I feel disappointed because, given what’s happening now, a movie about **Marilyn Monroe** could have conveyed something much stronger. It's the story of a woman who experienced the objectification prevalent in the 1950s. Instead, the film seems to exacerbate the problem by including nudity seemingly just for its own sake. Based on a partly fabricated narrative and what I feel is an unfocused perspective, '**Blonde**' turns out to be quite disappointing.
