The film, Blitz, demonstrates a certain level of skill but ultimately feels lacking due to shortcomings in its characters and themes. Steve McQueen created a movie that is visually interesting and features a noteworthy performance by Elliott Heffernan; however, it has difficulty avoiding familiar tropes common in stories about surviving World War II. It’s not entirely unsuccessful, yet it doesn't possess the necessary emotional resonance or fresh perspective to distinguish itself within its crowded category. Rating: C+
