He attempts suicide but fails. This section is accompanied by narration from a female voice (who also recites the opening credits and reappears periodically). Voice-over narration often feels like a compromise in films, yet it proves effective here. The man finds employment at a massage parlor operated by two blind men and staffed entirely by people who are blind or visually impaired. From that point on, the film shifts into an exploration of multiple characters—their relationships and desires, rather than their blindness itself. Essentially, it’s about everyday experiences as lived by individuals who happen to be blind. A few of the female characters make a particularly strong impression. What's remarkable (and potentially jarring for some viewers) is how effectively the film conveys what it might feel like to be without sight—a sense that things are simply happening around you, rather than being seen. The way the movie handles focus is brilliant. There are numerous genuinely affecting moments, though slightly unusual because of the characters' blindness; however, they avoid sentimentality or melodrama and instead possess a darker, almost unsettling quality. This isn’t a typical public service announcement. Scenes sometimes feature dialogue occurring off-screen, or just as a moment seems poised for resolution, it abruptly ends—this occurs frequently, creating an odd feeling. There are instances where you experience the discomfort of characters unable to interpret nonverbal cues during emotionally charged situations; these moments have a real impact. The person who directed this film deserves recognition. The direction, editing, and cinematography display exceptional creativity. I didn’t fully understand the movie's conclusion, but the final image is a genuinely lovely smile.
