The appeal of this movie is really divided by how much you appreciate the nostalgia it evokes. Bruce Willis filmed this while he was already famous from Moonlighting, and it carries over that show’s lighthearted tone. I recall seeing it in theaters years ago with my girlfriend at the time, and I distinctly remember laughing a lot at Bruce Willis's clumsy antics—tripping and stumbling into absurd scenarios orchestrated by the then-radiant Kim Basinger. Watching it now, two decades later, I still find myself liking it, though it comes across more as an interesting glimpse into the past considering where Willis’s career went afterward. He was close to making Die Hard, which is important when understanding this early comedic role. The story centers on Walter Davis (Willis), who needs a date for a crucial business dinner. His brother arranges a blind date with his wife's cousin Nadia (Basinger), but gives him strict instructions not to let her drink too much because she becomes wild when intoxicated. Predictably, things escalate from bad to worse as Nadia quickly gets drunk and completely disrupts Walter’s life. There are some amusing scenes and witty lines that keep the movie entertaining overall, but a recurring joke involving one of Nadia's former boyfriends starts to feel irritating, and the predictable plot device of Nadia causing constant problems also becomes repetitive. It has its enjoyable parts, but not quite enough to elevate it beyond being average. The two main actors do their best to maintain a positive atmosphere, but ultimately I’d give it a 5/10.
