I went into this movie expecting less than I got. It turned out to be surprisingly good, though it had the potential to be even stronger. The story centers on two women, written and directed by a female filmmaker, and begins with a yoga instructor reaching out to a sister she never knew existed. Initially their interactions are relaxed, but as she gets to know her, she feels compelled to offer assistance. That’s when complications arise, and the rest of the movie focuses on resolving those issues. Considering its modest scale and brief length, this film manages to stay engaging. I mention that because the premise might feel somewhat familiar. While there are some unexpected developments, much of what happens is fairly easy to anticipate—though not necessarily in a negative way for a one-time viewing experience. The acting was solid; Jessica Biel stood out, but the other actress also delivered a noteworthy performance. It begins as a drama and shifts into a thriller by the end. This isn’t a film that will appeal to everyone; casual viewers might find it more enjoyable than seasoned movie critics or enthusiasts. 6/10
