It's difficult to say whether this fits into some larger plan, as the Quincies struggle to understand what’s happening when the Soul Reapers manage to get past the defenses of his palace, leading to serious problems for their world. Now that everyone is facing a threat to existence, old conflicts will have to be put aside—at least temporarily—while they try to survive. The action sequences are quite striking throughout this fast-moving story, which combines the last parts of the series. However, if you're new to the show, you’ll need to quickly grasp both the plot and the characters, which isn't simple. It takes some effort to follow along, especially when the subtitles appear rapidly and are often hard to read due to the white-on-white text on a large screen. The people making these shows based on manga really need to address this if they want to reach wider audiences; it’s not safe to assume everyone is already familiar with the story before the opening credits. A brief summary might actually help. There's a very simple question and answer segment at the end, which seemed more like an attempt to justify showing it in theaters. As you would expect from any collection of episodes, some of the depth that could have made the characters more engaging is lost amidst all the fighting and spectacular displays. Nevertheless, this is a well-made show that manages to compress three volumes into an enjoyable experience, but I suspect it will mainly appeal to existing fans of "Bleach." Those who are unfamiliar with the series might feel like they’re missing something.
