It’s enjoyable to watch 'Blazing Saddles.' The film’s purpose as a satire from 1974 is evident, and while it occasionally feels obvious, it still manages to be amusing. Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder both do well in their roles; I always appreciate seeing the latter. Harvey Korman was particularly funny for me—the Hedy Lamarr joke consistently got a small laugh out of me. Actually, that scene with him and Robert Ridgely is what I’m most likely to recall from this movie, along with the quicksand sequence. Those moments happen early on; it's definitely a film that seems better at the beginning than toward the end. That isn't necessarily bad, but if the film were longer, it might have become a problem. The ending felt strange and somewhat disappointing. Like when I saw 'Robin Hood: Men in Tights' recently, I understand why this Mel Brooks movie has such broad appeal. I liked both films, though I’d say this one is slightly better than that one. They are equally good to watch, regardless.
