Kamurai on Blades of Glory

I wouldn’t watch this again and can’t suggest anyone else does either. It has to be among the silliest premises I've encountered in a film. What’s worse, there seems to be an element of homophobia woven into it, which feels like an unfortunate escalation of issues already present within men’s figure skating. I don’t have any particular interest in ice skating myself, but I can’t picture anyone who does being pleased or entertained by the jokes made at their sport's expense. It leaves me wondering exactly who this is for unless it’s intended for people who dislike figure skating—and even then, why would they seek out a movie about it? Many of the attempts at humor simply don't land. The filmmakers clearly understand how to build comedic moments into the narrative; in fact, the antagonists have a reasonably well-developed storyline, though its quality is lacking. The characters are largely unpleasant and behave erratically. At one point, the movie practically begs them to change their ways, and by the time that happens, I'm completely indifferent to what they do until the very end. The romantic plotline was the strongest element, but it suffered greatly because of everything else surrounding it.
