There’s a great deal to enjoy in *Blade*, especially when appreciated as a product of 1990s action films. It's significant that this film—a vampire movie with an R rating and a Black lead actor—helped launch the age of comic book adaptations. The action sequences, special effects, and soundtrack feel goofy and out-of-date, and the plot doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. Despite these shortcomings, *Blade* remains entertaining.
